#Friday Slippers and Coffee

Psalm 34:14 (NIV)

14 Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.

My favourite blog time "Hashtag Friday" and today I feel like giving you a glimpse into my own life.

I have been invited for coffee by my husband this afternoon. The only difference is that I may wear my slippers to the Wimpy. I know it sounds ridiculous but I actually have permission to wear my slipper to town, I have a tag.

I will be enjoying a nice cup of coffee and relax. I want to encourage you to look for the good things in life today. Steering away from evil. Focus your mind on God and learn from His Word. Taking pleasure in studying God's Word.

I believe today is going to be fun, people are going to come to the Wimpy with their slippers on. A fun environment is going to take place and we are going to enjoy a lovely coffee for free!

Prayer

Heavenly Father, please remind us to look for good things in life. Create in us a clean spirit and a pure heart. Focusing our attention on good things, steering away from evil. In the Holy Name of the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen

"It's Unfair!"

2 Corinthians 12:9'But He answered me, 'My grace is always more than enough for you, and My power finds its full expression through your weakness.'

Have you read Nassim Nicholas Taleb's Antifragile - Things that gain from disorder? This is my reading material at the moment and I am enjoying this book thoroughly.

I always watch and observe people, listening to what they say. I heard a man say "it's unfair." I want to take you to 2 Corinthians 12 verse 9 and let's look at what God says "My grace is always more than enough for you." Yes, I listened to the chap telling me about his problem and because he needs to actually do something about it, "it's unfair." I think people today are very fortunate and they have so many resources available.

I think this man has an "entitlement" attitude and when he needs to do something for himself, "it's unfair."

My point is this, God has given each one of us grace for today, to face all our problems and challenges. This man's only challenge right now is to drive 130km to see someone to help him complete a document in person so that he may receive compensation for not being at work.

God instructs us each and every day through His Word, the only problem I believe we have is "not reading this Word."

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I am not standing in judgement over this person I used as an example of being fragile. I just want to point out that we don't know Your word and feed on it each day. For lack of wisdom and understanding is rife and we miss out on so many good and wonderful opportunities. Thank You, Lord, for each day's mercies which You give each one of us. In the Holy Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen

Obedience verses service

Exodus 19: 8 AMP

All the people answered together and said, “We will do everything that the Lord has spoken.” And Moses reported the words of the people to the Lord.

If you have children perhaps you can relate, I find when I ask the kids to do something for me like empty the dustbin, I get ‘yes, I will.’ The person responsible for this job always agrees with me, but the dustbin stays full. I have come to realize that he suffers from ‘selective hearing.’ He automatically responded because he didn’t want a confrontation.

Simply put I believe we do exactly the same to the Lord.  We are so caught up in our daily chores and all kinds of business for the Lord that many a time we don’t hear Him speaking to us. Instead of being obedient and serve Him we say ‘yes, I will’ and carry on with whatever we are doing.

Prayer

Oh dear Lord, I am guilty of the same sins, I too say ‘yes, I will’ and carry on with whatever I am busy with. Please forgive me and help me to obey You when You speak to me. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen

A heart filled with greed!

Luke 12: 15 AMP
“Then He said to them, “Watch out and guard yourselves against every form of greed; for not even when one has an overflowing abundance does his life consist of nor is it derived from his possession.”

What makes one greedy? The lack of things or material stuff in our lives and we compare ourselves to others. Greed starts with I wish I had this. In the end, we become selfish, greedy and unhappy.

It is something we probably all suffer from, greed comes in subtlety. We don’t even know it but we struggle to get over other people’s good fortune.

Repent today and let go of any envy that you have in your own heart. God placed you where you are with a purpose and stay focused so that you can hear from Him.

Let go of all “if only I had this, that or the other.” You are allowing greed into your life.

Prayer

Lord God, I am greedy and I know that I am selfish too. Please Lord, humbly I pray forgive me. I bring this sins before You in the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Forgive me Amen

An Angry Heart!

Ephesians 4: 31 AMP
“Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamour [perpetual animosity, resentment, and strife, fault-finding] and slander be put away from you, along with every kind of malice [all spitefulness, verbal abuse, malevolence].”

I feel people have betrayed me on too many levels, people that were in my inner circle and today I am struggling with forgiveness because of their betrayal. I used to feel this person stole my future; they stole my life and my happiness. I also know someone right now who does the same thing.

How to deal with my angry heart? I believe I don’t have much of a choice in the matter I would have to forgive these people for hurting me and constantly insulting my intelligence. The lies, the stories and untruths drive me up the wall.

I have been carrying this un-forgiveness for far too long and I have to get to a point in my life to set them free, it’s hurting me and they don’t even care.

Prayer

Humbly Abba Father, I pray that You will heal my broken heart and set the people free who offended and hurt me. I pray in Jesus Christs Name that I forgive them You know who I am talking about. I set them free in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen

A Troubled Heart!

1 John 1: 9 AMP
“If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and cleanses us continually from all unrighteousness [our wrongdoing, everything not in conformity with His will and purpose].”

If you have been reading my blog you would have picked up that I have a troubled heart. Yes, I feel there is sin in my life that has been weighing me down and many times I feel overwhelmed by my past transgressions. The truth is I was disobedient to the Lord and still did as I pleased which to this day is hanging over my head constantly.

To summarise this all in one word “guilt” is eating me up. Why don’t you just confess your sins to the Lord and get on with your life? Is what I have heard a couple of times, sure enough, I have and I even said I am sorry to the people involved. So then what’s the problem you ask? I think honestly I cannot forgive myself for being so suborned.

Today I have made up my mind and will keep on repeating this verse until I believe it. “If we admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful to cleanses us continually from all unrighteousness.”

Please pray that this verse will be rooted in my heart today, I need your prayers to move on. Thank you.

Prayer

Abba Father, humbly I pray that You will hear my heart and my prayers. Lord, You know my sin, I have spoken to You about it, I confessed it to You as well as the other. Lord, humbly I pray that the Holy Spirit will help me accept that You forgive sins and that I am forgiven. Help me also forgive myself, in the Holy Name of the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen

Your Heart #Wednesday

Matthew 15: 18
“But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these things defile a man.”

In the past couple of months, you and I have been checking my attitude and my behaviour. The funny thing is I completely forgot about my heart. The Lord Jesus tells us that “whatever we say through our mouths comes from our hearts.”

We know that our hearts are secretive things even the prophet Jeremiah speaks about the mysterious of our hearts “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” Jeremiah 17: 9 KJV.

Not too long ago my husband turns around telling me that “we have problems in our marriage.” I was totally at a loss what did I miss? I asked him what the problem was but he didn’t reveal the problem to me. I have been working at being kind, loving and understanding but I still am in the dark when it comes to what the problem is.

In the meantime, I believe God is in control and that He has sorted out the problem. “Delight yourself in the LORD, and He will give you the desires and petitions of your heart.” Psalm 37 verses 4 Amplified Bible.

Prayer

Abba Father, Lord You know that I have made it my business to spend time with You. I am hungry for a new touch of the Holy Spirit in my own heart. Lord, You know the secrets of my heart, what I dream about and what I want. Today, humbly I stand before You asking that You will grant me the desires of my own heart. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth, Amen.
