#class

3 John 12 (AMP)

“Demetrius has received a good testimony and commendation from everyone – and from the truth [the standard of God’s word] itself; and we add our testimony and speak well of him, and you know that our testimony is true.”

I was so impressed with my husband he told me that he was so surprised the company he was contracted out to say they really find his work of high quality and service is really good. I thought that was an awesome statement because he actually has their acceptance.

This brings me to our scripture reading Demetrius has also been seen as someone with class and acceptance.  I am then reminded of Paul telling Timothy to set an example in speech, in conduct, in love and faith.

I saw this quote from Ann Landers wow, this made me think of my own conduct in life she sure nailed it. Let see what Ann says:

Quote from Ann Landers:
“Class never runs scared.
It is sure-footed and confident.
It can handle anything that comes along.
Class has a sense of humour.
It knows a good laugh is the best lubricant for oiling the machinery of human relations.

Class never makes excuses.
It takes its lumps and learns from past mistakes.
Class knows that good manners are nothing more than a series of small, inconsequential sacrifices.

Class bespeaks an aristocracy that has nothing to do with ancestors or money.
Some wealthy “blue bloods” have no class, while individuals who are struggling to make ends meet are loaded with it.

Class is real.
It can’t be faked.

Class never tried to build itself by tearing others down.
Class is already up and need not strive to look better by making others look worse.

Class can “walk with kings and keep it’s virtue and talk with crowds and keep the common touch.” Everyone is comfortable with the person who has class because that person is comfortable with himself.

If you have class, you’ve got it made.

If you don’t have class, no matter what else you have, it doesn’t make any difference.”

― Ann Landers

Prayer
Lord, Father how we all look at people that ooze with class. They simply have control over their mouth and the way they carry themselves. Today Lord I pray that I too may learn to act in a proper way towards all people and not be a disappointment to You. Please Lord, help me and guide me in my own journey. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
The Word for Today:
1 Timothy 4: 12 – 15  “Let no one look down on [you because of] your youth, but be an example and set a pattern for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in[moral] purity. Until I come, devote yourself to public reading [of Scripture], to preaching and to teaching [the sound doctrine of God’s word]. Do not neglect the spiritual gift within you, [that special endowment] which was intentionally bestowed on you [by the Holy Spirit] through prophetic utterance when the elders laid their hands on you [at your ordination]. Practice and work hard on these things; be absorbed in them [completely occupied in your ministry], so that you progress will be evident to all.”

Spiritual Workout

1 Timothy 4: 7 – 8 AMP

“But have nothing to do with irreverent folklore and silly myths. On the other hand, discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness [keeping yourself spiritually fit]. For physical training is of some value, but godliness (spiritual training) is of value in everything and in every way, since it holds promise for the present life and for the life to come.”

In my younger days, I used to run up 28 flights of stairs, go to the gymnasium twice a week. Constantly exercising and try and eat healthily. I wanted to be in control over my body and it was important to me to stay fit. As I grow older it doesn’t seem so important to me. I will rather take a walk before I go and spend hours in the gym.

Something I have also realise is that I need to spend time in God’s Word, reading His Word on a daily base is important to me. It’s important to grow spiritually and I find that the more I read the more I feel I am learning. I am desperate to grow spiritually and it feels like I am missing the point. I want to live a godly life. God’s Word will guide me and His Word is the truth. I feel godliness is eternal and I try and show the kids where my true passion lies. I am constantly telling them about God’s faithfulness.

Prayer

Lord You, know I want to grow spiritually, please help me grow to maturity. I feel I like in Wisdom and Understanding. I want to ask You, please Lord help me. I want to live a godly life. Lord thank You for Your Word, bless each one of us in abundance today. Amen

Ask and keep on asking and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking and you will find; knock and keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you.”

Bless my enemies

Luke 6: 28 AMP

“bless and show kindness to those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.”

Honestly, this is a very difficult thing to do especially when you are struggling to come to terms with the wrongs this person has inflicted upon my life. But I want to obey God and I want to be obedient in serving my Lord. Today I have come to a place in my life where I want to set these people free, even though I feel they don’t deserve it.

I want to pray for supernatural favour in each of their lives and I ask God to forgive them as I have forgiven them. I set them free and ask that the Lord will rain blessings over their lives. Let it be well with their souls. May they become Christians and serve God in truth.

Prayer

Humbly, Father, I come to You, in the Name of Jesus Christ. Lord, I want to pray to ask that You forgive me for not being obedient to Your Word. Lord I humbly stand before You and pray Lord, please forgive me. I have decided to forgive them in the Name of Jesus Christ. Bless each one of my enemies and give them their heart's desire. Lord blesses their lives and keeps watch over them. Lord thank You for this opportunity in being able to pray for forgiveness of sins, blessings in abundance in Jesus Christ Name. Amen
THE Word for Today:
Romans 12: 14, “Bless those who persecute you [who cause you harm or hardship]; bless and do not curse [thme].”

Scripture for today

1 Thessalonians 1: 8 - 9 ESV
For not only has the word of the Lord sounded forth from you in Macedonia and Achaia, but your faith in God has gone forth everywhere so that we need not say anything. For they themselves report concerning us the kind of reception we had among you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God.

Become a good listener.

Mark 4: 9 The Voice

All who have ears to hear, let them listen.

I don’t know about you, I have a bad habit of chipping in trying to complete the sentence of people when I feel they are taking to long. I don’t seem to be listening to what they are saying. My husband has to restrain me. He actually says “please give me a chance to tell you what I want to do.”
This has got me thinking when it comes to listening to my husband I lack the discipline and it is a very bad habit. I get half the story. I know I should start with understanding what he is telling me but my impatience gets the best of me.

I realise today I will not get any breakthroughs with this lack of hearing, I need to get focused and listen to people when they are speaking to me. The solution to this problem would be to number one look directly at the person speaking to me. Focusing all my attention on this person my husband. Secondly no more interruptions. I know it infuriates him. I must let him speak and tell me what he is doing then react. Yes we all know am a judging person. O deary me, I need to wait and listen to the whole story before I start judging. Give him a chance to speak his mind and then say something in response to the conversation.

Thank goodness it’s never too late to become a good listener, I will be doing this going forward from today.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, Lord thank You for today, thank You for your Word, yes Lord, I am guilty when it comes to listening. I seem to interrupt people when they are speaking to me, too excited and then they don’t get to tell me what’s happening. Lord thank You for this word for today, I believe You are teaching me a new skill. I need to make it my business to listen to. In the name of Jesus, Christ Lord help me to listen. Amen

Matthew 28: 19, “Go therefore and make disciples..”
