‘I shall come forth as gold.’

Job 23:10 Revised Standard Version (RSV)

10 But he knows the way that I take;
when he has tried me, I shall come forth as gold.

Lessons learned throughout my life span; nothing stays the same even if you don’t do anything to change it.  It seems really silly to think like this but the fact of the matter is that each day things happen, circumstances are changing all the time.  People change their minds constantly and what may have been super important yesterday is just another something today.

I think about so many things I need to do and want to do but I just don’t have the time, I work all day and when I get home I make super and we sit down to a meal.  After the meal we get the dishes washed and sit down to watch something on TV, take a bath and go to bed.  The circle of my life seems so mundane, constant repetition.

Now looking at Job, the man went through so much, lost everything, even his children and at the end of it all Job states ‘I shall come forth as gold.’  The process changed him and he knew that it was a good process ~ a God process.

Prayer
O Lord God as Job went through life with all the difficulties he faced we pray please give us the strength, wisdom and understanding to face our own trails so that at the end of the day we too may declare ‘I shall come forth as gold.’  In Jesus Name, Amen

Start spreading the News .... Jesus is Born Luke 2: 1 - 20

Deep in thought Joseph walked into his bedroom, closing the door behind him, he walked to his bed and sat down.  O LORD God, humbly I pray for forgiveness of sin, it is not my intention to disgrace Mary but I have since come to realize that she is with child.  Not my child!

Joseph spoke softly as he lay back on his bed.  How could Mary do such a thing?  It was a difficult day and Joseph took off his sandals and cloak, turning the blankets back he lay with his hands behind his head looking into the ceiling.

Sleep came quickly and Joseph was standing talking to an Angel of the Lord ‘Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife; because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.   She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name of Jesus, because He will save His people from sin.’  Joseph woke up in the morning and thought about his dream; he would honor the Lord and take Mary as his wife.

Mary’ Joseph greeted her, taking her hands in his pressing his lips to them; ‘I love you and want to marry you.’  Joseph said as he pulled Mary into his arms.  Oh Joseph, yes I will marry you.’ Mary said laughing.  Both Joseph and Mary decided not to make a big deal of the wedding but that it should take place as soon as possible.

Just to shake things up a bit Caesar August had a decree issued to the people in the Roman world that would record a census on how many people lived in the Roman world.  Now Joseph was born in Judea Bethlehem.  He had no choice but to take his wife Mary along with him to record his name in one of the census scrolls.

Up early the next morning Mary and Joseph started their way to Judea.  There was a company of people leaving for Bethlehem.  Joseph arranged to travel with a couple of friends, making the cooking of meals a little easier for Mary.  Mary was starting to show and it was clear that Mary’s time was closer than expected.  But in good faith Joseph and Mary took the road with excitement.

It was late when they arrived in Bethlehem, the town was buzzing with people and animals.   Joseph asked Mary to stand in the square and wait for him so he could go and enquirer for a room for them.  Walking from one Inn to the other, Joseph could not secure a space for them.  In desperation Joseph asked the Inn Keeper if they could spend the night in the barn, Mary was tired and needed somewhere safe to sleep.  The Inn Keeper suggested they walk around the block and knock at the back of the building, there he would find the Inn Keepers shepherds with some flocks of sheep in a barn.

They prepared something to eat and as they sat down to relax Mary went into labor.  Jesus was born and because Mary didn’t have anything with her she covered Jesus with cloths and placed her little baby boy into a manger.

A couple of shepherds where sitting around a fire gazing at the stars in the heavens, when suddenly an Angel of the Lord appeared.   The glory of the Lord shone around them and they were terrified.  But the Angel said to them ‘do not be afraid.  I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.  Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is Christ the LORD.  This will be a sign to you.  You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.’

Suddenly a great company of heavenly hosts appeared with the angels, praising God and saying ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom His favor rests.’

The shepherds were in awe and decided to travel to Bethlehem and pay homage to the Lord Jesus.  On their way to see the Lord Jesus they told everybody about what had happened and with great excitement they were looking forward to seeing the Lord.

The news was being spread and people were wondering who could this child be?

tHe LoRd is GoOd

Lamentations 3:25 (RSV)

25 The Lord is good to those who wait for him,
to the soul that seeks him.

How to wait on the LORD?  This million dollar question is very important; I believe that when I sit and wait for the LORD I want to be in a quiet place.  I will consider my surrounding and all the people in my space.

To stay focused and to the point I want to be prayerful and I want to mediate on scripture that I feel has relevance for my situation.  I am reminded that the LORD is good to those who wait for HIM.  I also remind myself that I am a soul seeking the LORD.

From my point of view I need to be in a quiet space with peace and quiet around me, a place where I can stay focused and wait for the answers I need to carry on.  I realize that I don’t always get the answers immediately but when it comes to me I am normally so surprised I can hardly believe what happens.

It is powerful how awesome and wonderful our LORD really is, when we wait on HIM, He will reveal Himself to you.

Prayer

O LORD God I know You are so good to me, I believe that when I truly and humbly come into YOUR presences I am heard.  I pray for open eyes, ears and heart to Your word today, in Jesus Name, Amen

A new Challenge

Joshua 14:12 (RSV)

12 So now give me this hill country of which the Lord spoke on that day; for you heard on that day how the Anakim were there, with great fortified cities: it may be that the Lord will be with me, and I shall drive them out as the Lord said.”

Facing new challenges can be daunting and as I grow older I realize that it can throw me off at time.  I say “LORD God, give me this hill country.”  I have the necessary strength; I have the knowledge and know how.  I feel that I am still able to make a difference.

I want to be like Caleb not afraid of going for the next challenge, climbing the mountain as they present themselves to me.  I believe that I can do all things through Christ whom strengthens me.  If you need a new challenge ask the LORD to give it to you, young or old you are able.  God will equip you for the next job.

Lord I know You have a good plan for my life and I want to be part of the new challenge show me how Lord.

Prayer
O Lord God ~ You know that I am currently looking for a good job, that I need to work so that I can help my husband and family.  I feel that I am capable of so much more, today I pray open the right doors for me, let me climb my next mountain.  In Jesus Name, Amen

Hope in the LORD!

Psalm 130:7 (RSV)
O Israel, hope in the Lord!
For with the Lord there is steadfast love,
and with him is plenteous redemption.

A thought for today as I lay on my bed listening to the chirping song of beautiful happy little birds my hope rises.  Today is another day, full of great and wonderful experiences.  I have a choice to either embrace my day with hope and love and expectations or be alone and feel miserable and lonely.

As I through back the bedding on my bed I sit up straight and stretch my arms and turn looking at my husband still sleeping, its dark in the bedroom but soon the sun will be shining in on him.  I have so much to be grateful of, the bed I sleep in the food on my table and the washing in my washing basket.

I choose to hope in the LORD.  I know that the LORD is there for me and that HIS steadfast love surrounds me day and night and with HIM there is plenteous redemption.  I don’t have to worry about what today will bring, I expect only goodness and mercy from my LORD!

Prayer

O LORD God, thank You for another day!  Thank YOU for giving me the ability to choose and to come into YOUR Presence each and every day.  I worship YOU and thank YOU for YOUR steadfast Love, I thank YOU for the Hope I have in YOU.  In Jesus Name, Amen
