Open My Eyes: A Prayer for a Heart Hungry for God's Word

Dear Father God, How do I begin to thank You for the gift of Your Word? It is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105) and oh, how I need that light. Without it, I stumble. Without it, my soul grows hollow and hungry, grasping at things that cannot satisfy. Your Word is the bread I cannot live without. The water my spirit craves in the dry and weary places. So, I come to You today with open hands and an open heart. Open my eyes, Lord. Not just to read the words on the page, but to see to truly comprehend the depths hidden there. The treasures buried beneath the surface, waiting for the one who seeks with their whole heart. Give me understanding greater than I have ever known. Make me teachable. Make me willing. Quiet the pride in me that thinks it already knows. Replace it with the hunger of a student who has so much yet to learn. I want Your instruction. I desire it. Help me to be diligent. Father, faithfully placing Your Word inside my soul each and every day. Not as...

The Sacred Rhythm of Evening

There is a holy rhythm to the close of day; one I have come to cherish like a well-worn prayer. The moment I cross the threshold of home, my feet carry me to the kitchen without thought, without deliberation. It is instinct. It is love made visible. I lose myself in the quiet ceremony of preparing the evening meal. The soft rhythm of chopping, the warmth rising from the stove, the setting of the table like an altar prepared with intention. I wash the dishes I have dirtied, restoring order, completing the circle. Only then do I permit myself to rest. I settle into the living room, the couch receiving me like an old friend. I reach for the remote and search for something with edges; murder, intrigue, the shadowed world of spies. I am drawn to suspense the way a moth is drawn to candlelight. And as I wait for the sound of my husband's key in the door, somewhere between one heartbeat and the next, my eyes grow heavy... and I drift. A stolen nap. A small mercy. His arrival stirs me ...

Divine Favor with GOD – Almighty 8 February 2025

Heavenly Father, Almighty God, Great and mighty are You, LORD! You are the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—and I believe You are my God too. In humility, I surrender my life into Your hands this morning. LORD, I need You. Please speak to me; I am listening. LORD, Your name is mighty, and I ask that Your powerful hand be over my life and the lives of those I hold dear—my husband, my children, his children, my mother, my sister, my brothers and their families. I also bring before You my best friends, Elma and Alette, and all my friends. I dedicate each of them specifically into Your hands today. Father, I come before You in desperate need of Your grace. I know that Your grace is new every morning, and I ask You to cover my life with Your unending mercy. Let Your grace sustain me, uplift me, and carry me through every challenge. Help me not to rely on my own strength but to rest in the sufficiency of Your grace. Grant us a renewed awareness of Your perfect timing. Help us structure o...

God's Eternal Rewards: Understanding Divine Recognition and Remuneration 3 July 2024

…He will receive his reward. - 1 Corinthians 3:14 NIV Scripture 1: "...The fire will test the quality of each man's work. If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. If it is burned up, he will suffer loss..." - 1 Corinthians 3:13-15 Scripture 2: "No one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age." - Mark 10:29-30 NIV Scripture 3: "When you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous." - Luke 14:13-14 NIV These Scriptures clearly teach that God rewards your deeds. Some rewards will come in this life, and some will come in the next. Perhaps you find yourself saying, "I served God faithfully, so why am I still struggling? Doesn’t God notice or care?" Yes, God notic...

A Prayer of Humility and Intercession: 29 June 2024

Sovereign LORD, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for You. When I reflect on all creation and every living being, I stand in awe of Your might and power. LORD, I worship You, bringing You praise and honour. You show love to thousands but also carry consequences for the sins of the fathers upon their children. O great and powerful GOD, whose name is the LORD Almighty, great are Your purposes and mighty are Your deeds. Your eyes are open to all the ways of men; You reward everyone according to their conduct and deeds. You performed miraculous signs and wonders in Egypt and have continued them to this day, both in Israel and among all mankind, gaining renown that is still Yours. You brought Your people Israel out of Egypt with signs and wonders, by a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, and with great terror. You gave them the land You had sworn to give their forefathers, a land flowing with milk and honey. They came in ...

Embracing Chooseday: Conquering Challenges with Faith and Purpose

by Yvette van Niekerk Joshua 14: 12 (RSV) So now give me this hill country of which the LORD spoke on that day; for you heard on that day how the Anakim were there, with great fortified cities: it may be that the LORD will be with me, and I shall drive them out as the LORD said. My daughter (Odette de Beer - Amplify Your Business) coined a new word for Tuesday: “chooseday.” I love this because it emphasizes the power of choice. I believe that each person faces challenges every day, and it is through these challenges that we grow. This morning, I pray, “Lord my God, give me this hill country.” I feel I possess the necessary strength and knowledge, yet sometimes I lack the understanding and wisdom. In all I do, I echo the words of Caleb: I am not afraid to take on the next challenge, to climb the mountains as they come my way. I begin my day with these words from the most important book I study and read, the Bible: “The righteous will flourish like palm trees; they will grow like the ce...
