by Yvette van Niekerk In Genesis 37:8 (RSV), Joseph's brothers, consumed by jealousy, questioned his dreams of reigning over them. Despite their hatred, Joseph clung to his dreams, remaining steadfast in his faith. In our own lives, not everyone will support our dreams, but like Joseph, we must hold onto them tightly, trusting in God's plan even when it's hard to see. Genesis 37: 8 (RSV) His brothers said to him, “are you indeed to reign over us? Or are you indeed to have dominion over us?” So they hated him yet more for his dream and for his words. Jealousy turned Joseph's brothers bitter, blinding them to God's greater purpose. In moments of despair, it's natural to lose sight of our dreams. We might feel adrift, our passion fading like mist in the wind. Yet, even in these moments, we can turn to God, asking for a renewed dream and vision.
