A Most Necessary Comfort (For When You’ve Lost Your Spark)

"He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others." 2 Corinthians 1:4 Reflection Some days just feel… off. You start with good intentions, but somewhere along the way, your focus slips, your energy dips, and that sense of “I’ve got this” quietly disappears. You try to push through, but instead, you feel scattered, tired, and a little discouraged. Here’s the truth we often forget: You were never meant to carry everything on your own. God doesn’t wait for things to fall apart before He steps in. He meets you right in the middle of your messy, unproductive, “I’ve lost my mojo” kind of days. Nothing is too small. Not your tiredness. Not your frustration. Not even that quiet feeling that you’re not quite yourself. He sees it all and He cares. God’s comfort isn’t reserved for big crises. It’s available in the ordinary moments too. In the middle of a busy day. In the pause between tasks. In the sigh you didn’t even realise you let out. And when He comforts you...

When Your Heart Feels Distant from God – A Gentle Prayer for Renewal

by Yvette van Niekerk 29 March 2026 Honour God Dear Father God, Today, on this holy morning, I come before You with praise and honour. I worship You, LORD my God. Thank You for the gift of another day, and for welcoming me into Your presence. In humility, I lift up Your holy Name: Holy, Holy, Holy are You, God Almighty. All glory and honour belong to You. I praise You, LORD, in the mighty Name of Your only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Your Word reminds me: “For whenever our hearts condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and He knows everything.” (1 John 3:20, ESV) LORD, You know all things. You are the Creator of all, and You see me El Roi, the God who sees. “Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.” (Proverbs 4:23, ESV) Father, I come before You this morning with a heart that longs to be aligned with Yours. Draw me near again. Where I feel distant, remind me of Your nearness. Where I feel uncertain, anchor me in Your truth. Teach me to guard my hear...

Finding My Place in God’s Design – Reflections from 1 Corinthians 12

A personal devotional by Yvette This morning during my quiet time, I read 1 Corinthians 12, and one verse touched me so deeply that I had to stop, breathe, and read it again: “But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as He wanted them to be.” — 1 Corinthians 12:18 For years I’ve struggled with comparing myself to others. I try to be as beautiful, as thin, as well-put-together as the women I see around me. The perfect long hair, the flawless makeup, the slim figure. And when I don’t match that picture, I feel discouraged, disappointed, and sometimes even ashamed of how I look. But this verse reminded me of something powerful: God arranged me too. Exactly as He wanted me to be. Part of His body. Part of His plan. Chosen. Designed. Loved. How 1 Corinthians 12 Helps Me Live Closer to God The message Paul writes is not about outward appearance it's about identity, purpose, and belonging. Here’s what God showed me today: 1. God never asked me to be s...
