When you lack “peace of mind.”

1 Peter 5: 6 – 7 AMP

Shepherd the Flock of God

“Therefore humble yourselves [demote, lower yourselves in your own estimation] under the mighty hand of God, that in due time He may exalt you, casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.”

When it comes to worries, anxiety and my emotional stress I must tell you I agree with Joyce Meyers “battlefield of the mind.”  I have noticed that I seem to open my life up to unwanted worries and anxieties, by saying things to people and not really thinking about the consequences.  Then the devil will come to my mind in the early hours of the morning and remind me of something and boom, I start tossing and turning.  This way and that way, I over think a situation and keep on rehearsing it in my mind.

Instead of saying "I bind you in the name of Jesus Christ, leave me alone" I entertain these thoughts. I start thinking about my options. By the time my alarm needs to go off from me to rise from my bed, I have debated this matter in my head.

It struck me that without the covering of the Lord Jesus Christ I lack the strength to fight back. What do I need to fight this battle? I need the full armor of God to help me stand against this attack. What exactly am I looking for? Peace.  Yes, it sounds strange I want peace.

Let me tell you I am going to stand on God’s Word going forward, when I wake up in the early hours of the morning and I want to worry about something I want to recite Romans 5 verse 1 “Peace with God through faith. Therefore, since we are justified (acquitted, declared righteous, and given a right standing with God) through faith, let us [grasp the fact that we] have [the peace of reconciliation to hold and to enjoy] peace with god through our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).”
I also feel that I need to clothe myself with the full armor of God, Ephesians 6 verse 14 – 15 The Whole Armor of God “Stand therefore [hold your ground], having tightened the belt of truth around your lions and having put on the breastplate of integrity and of moral rectitude and right standing with God, and having shod your feet in preparation [to face the enemy with the firm-footed stability, the promptness, and the readiness produced by the good news] of the Gospel of peace.”

Prayer

Abba Father, Lord You are worthy to be praised, I want to honor Your Holy Name and bring You all the praise and worship possible. I adore You Lord. Thank You for this moment with You. Lord today I take the full armor of God and I cover myself with the LORD Jesus Christ. Lord I want to pray for peace in my life and mind I also shod my feet in preparation to face the enemy with the firm-footed stability, the promptness, and the readiness produced by the good news of the Gospel of peace.
Thank You Lord Jesus, Amen

#Change in my family begins with me!

Judges 6: 26 AMP

“26 and build an altar to the Lord your God on top of this mountain stronghold [with stones laid down] in an orderly way. Then take the second bull and offer a burnt sacrifice using the wood of the Asherah which you shall cut down.”

Do you remember Gideon? His father worshiped Baal and so did the town they lived in. Then the angel of the Lord came to Gideon and asked Gideon to tear down the altars built for Baal and make one for the LORD.

It was a big thing for Gideon because he was scared of his father and the people in the town but he still went ahead and tore down the altar and made one for the LORD. What happened? The people in town wanted to kill Gideon. Gideon obey God and he changed everything for his own family.

Then I read about this "family that wanted to have their family history chronicled, so they hired a professional biographer. Unfortunately, Uncle George the black sheep in the family was executed in an electric chair for committing several murders. The biographer said “no problem, I’ll simply say Uncle George occupied a chair of applied electronics at an important government institution, which he was attached to his position by the strongest ties. His death came as a real shock.” It seems we can only learn from our family tree."

Prayer

Humbly Lord God, I want to ask that You will help me with change in my own life. I realise that if I don’t do something drastically it won’t happen. I need Your wisdom and insight and I want to ask help me change according to Your Word. Lord I feel that I have become meek and I can’t take confrontation any more.
Lord be the change in my life that You want for me. I surrender my life into Your hands and I accept You Holy Spirit in the name of the LORD JESUS CHRIST. Amen

“Suffer with”

Psalm 82: 3 – 4 ESV
“Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”

Showing compassion seems to be a difficult thing in our race. I have noticed that people who are well off and can help will turn a blind eye. The people and race that I honestly don’t believe have a good hair on their heads, will turn around and help.

I remember my friend Janet Pillay and her boyfriend helped me in my time of need. I just got divorced and I couldn’t even afford the tyres on my car. The other problem I had was that struggled with my car’s gears. This would break almost each and every month. I was financially strapped but Janet and Otto didn’t even worry about helping me.

I once got stuck on the side of the road and honestly not one person stopped to assist me and then a black guys stopped to assist me. What is wrong with this picture?

It takes me back to the passage Luke 10 verse 25 to 37.  A man was robbed and injured on the side of the road and all these amazing rich people passed him. Turning a blind eye and then a Samaritan came along felt sorry for the guy. Picked him up and took him to an Inn paying the Inn Keeper to keep an eye on the injured guy. Compassion sure is lacking in our nation. Wow.

Prayer

Abba Father, humbly I pray for guidance and help when it comes to changing my priorities and how I use my time. Lord, help me to give and trust in You in supplying according to my needs. Help me be compassionate towards unfortunate people in our society. Lord help me be the representative of You Lord Jesus, showing others the way forward. Amen

#Goodness

Galatians 5: 22 AMP

“But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness,”

It’s Friday and we need to focus on the fruit of the Spirit, today let’s look at “goodness.” Sometimes I get upset when people pretend to be interested in you but they are busy on their cell phones, sending messages and making calls while you are sitting in their company.

Isn’t it refreshing when someone helps you and you know that you cannot do anything for them in return. They genuinely want to help you and feel its part of their calling. It’s so refreshing to come into contact with people that truly care and show goodness towards people.

I find it so refreshing when people are straight up and not pretending to be something they are not. You know where you stand with them, if they tell you something you can stand on their word. It’s truly refreshing. Honesty is also something they keep close to their heart.

Prayer

Abba Father what a great revelations it is to know You never lie to any of us. You are always good! Thank You Lord for the Lord Jesus Christ and the way You look at each one of us. In the same process Lord help us to change our perspective of the people around us, let us look at people through Your eyes Lord Jesus.  Make me a vessel of Your goodness Lord Jesus, come Holy Spirit and teach and guide me. Amen
