Dearest reader,
To hear from the Divine is no small pursuit — it is an art, a discipline, and above all, a desire born of love. If your soul longs to hear His whisper, then let your heart prepare in these three tender ways:
First — seek Him in time and place.
Whether at the break of dawn, as soft golden light spills through the curtains — “In the morning my prayer comes before You” (Psalm 88:13, NIV) —
Or in the hush of twilight, when the day's bustle begins to fade — “Let my praise be like the evening sacrifice” (Psalm 141:2, NCB) —
Or scattered throughout the hours — “Evening, morning, and noon I cry out” (Psalm 55:17, NIV) —
What matters is not the clock, but the consistency. Choose a time, a place, a corner of solitude — and return to it as a lover returns to the garden.
And how long shall this sacred meeting last? Long enough to lay your burdens bare, and still your heart until you hear His reply.
Second — come with an open Bible, and an even more open heart.
Before you read, pause. Pray. Invite the Holy Spirit to guide your gaze, not toward your own longings, but to His truth. Seek it as one searches for hidden treasure — “Then you will understand what it means to respect the LORD, and you will find that you know God” (Proverbs 2:4-5, NCB).
God’s wisdom often comes gently, like manna — portioned daily, just enough. “A command here, a command there … a little lesson here, a little lesson there” (Isaiah 28:10, NCV).
Choose depth over distance. Read until a single verse wraps its arms around your soul — then pause. Linger. Meditate. For true understanding is not poured out in haste but revealed over a lifetime of quiet attentiveness.
Third — bring a heart that listens.
James wrote: “The man who looks into the perfect law and makes a habit of doing so … puts that law into practice and he wins true happiness” (James 1:25, PHPS).
To listen is not merely to hear — it is to allow God’s Word to shape your actions, your choices, your very countenance. The evidence that you’ve heard Him? When His words begin to live through you, seen not just on your lips, but in your life.
A Prayer from the Heart
O, Abba Father,
How my heart longs to draw near to You — especially on those heavy days when the weight of life presses hard against my chest. It is in those very moments that I need You most, that I yearn to sit at Your feet, unburdened and known.
Hear my trembling prayer, Lord. Strengthen me for the path ahead. I confess I cannot walk it alone. My strength fails, my resolve falters — but You, O LORD, are faithful and ever-present.
I surrender all that I am — every plan, every worry, every task — into Your sovereign hands. You know the quiet longings of my soul, the needs I scarcely dare speak aloud.
Please help me, LORD. Be near. Carry me, guide me, sustain me. I place my hope in You.
In the name of Jesus Christ,
Amen.
Hey, hey it is my 2 nd anniversary! This has been an interesting time in my life and I must be honest I am starting to see the changes in my own life. Firstly remember I am a city girl with this bad ass attitude, my way or the highway. Ah, now let me tell you that doesn’t work like this. My husband has a firm hand over me and keeps me in toe. I am still my own person and have many new interests. How was my day today? Well the normal, got out of bed at 04h30 and then left the house by 06h00 arriving at work at 07h00. Then to top it off in an early morning meeting at 07h30 to 08h30, then back in the office. I worked on three projects; getting information from people isn’t that easy. I firstly completed my own scope of work, followed up with the suppliers and then going back to the next person. As I work according to my time keeping schedule I then finally got to lunch time. I...
