Heart in the right place

Jeremiah 38:12-13 International Standard Version (ISV)

12 Ebed-melech the Ethiopian told Jeremiah, “Put the worn out rags and clothes under your armpits under the ropes,” and Jeremiah did as he said13 They pulled Jeremiah with the ropes and brought him up from the cistern, but Jeremiah remained in the courtyard of the guard.

Jeremiah is standing in the mud and had to just wait and see what was going to happen.
He left the king’s house and went to see the king whom was sitting in the Benjamin Gate.  Ebed-melech approached the king saying ‘My lord the king, these men have done evil in all that they did to Jeremiah the prophet by casting him into the cistern, and he will die there of hunger, for there is no bread left in the city.’

The king instructs Ebed-melech to take thirty men and free Jeremiah from the cistern.  Before Ebed-melech went to rescue Jeremiah he first went home to collect worn out rags and clothes.  On reaching Jeremiah he said to Jeremiah ‘Put the rags and clothes between your armpits and the ropes.’  After which they lifted Jeremiah out of the pit.

The eunuch showed his heart was in the right place by thinking of Jeremiahs comfort.

Prayer

Lord help me to act in a unselfish way towards people in need, not being concerned of my own comfort or station in life at the time.  Let my heart be in the right place and help unconditionally as You do for us each day.  In Jesus Name, Amen

The Lord shut the door behind him.

Genesis 7:16 Lexham English Bible (LEB)

16 And those that came, male and female, of every living thing, came as God had commanded him. And Yahweh shut the door behind him.

What an awesome God we serve, Noah was instructed to build the ark and then God sent the animals male and female to the ark.  Picture this we are on earth right now because of Noah’s faithfulness and obedience to God.

God presented an opportunity to Noah in saving his own family and all the animals we have on earth today.  The same applies today in our lives, we are presented with new opportunities each and every day and God gives us the right to choose what we want to do with them.

Sometimes we miss out on good opportunities and let them slip through our fingers and other times we cease the moment and take advantage of the opportunities.

It is my wish to be aware of new opportunities each day, I want to be in the position to take advantage of what God has placed before me.  I also want to know that it all is part of God’s will for my own life.

Prayer

Lord please; help me to be aware of the opportunities; You present to us and help us to take each day as it comes.  So that when Lord, You shut the door behind us we will have made the right choices.  In Jesus Name, Amen

Taking every thought captive to Christ

2 Corinthians 10:5 New King James Version (NKJV)
casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ

Each day scripture reveals a new truth to me and today I want to focus on something very significant and important.  We as Christian are all striving to become Holy as God’s Word calls for it.  Part of becoming Holy we need to work on our own thought live.  We are reminded that, we should cast argument and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God.  Taking every through into captivity so that we are able to be obedient to Christ.

How do we action taking our thought life into captivity to obey Christ?  I think it will be one thought at a time.  You know what your negative thoughts are and by eliminating one though at a time and replacing it with a positive thought will transform your thinking.

Prayer
Heavenly Father as we learn to take our thoughts captive so that we are able to obey the Lord Jesus Christ.  We pray for guidance and help in our thoughts.  Lord without Your help we are not able to maintain a high stand of thinking.  In Jesus Name, Amen

Look at what is in your hand.

1 Samuel 17:50New King James Version (NKJV)
50 So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone, and struck the Philistine and killed him. But there was no sword in the hand of David.

When reading this passage I am reminded that King Saul tried to fit David with his armor which obviously didn’t fit David.  He finally said let me go the way that I am.  He didn’t look at the giant with his big sword and shield.  David had his sling in his hand and stopped to pick up 5 pebbles.  His focus wasn’t on the fact that he wasn’t dressed for the occasion no, he was going to face his enemy.

Sometimes we should stop focusing on what we don’t have and start focusing on what we have at hand.  We need to realize that when we need something to happen in our lives and it is meant to happen, you can be sure it will take place.

Look at what you have in your hands, use this for now and see how the rest will fall into place.  Stay focused on the Lord God.

Prayer
Heavenly Father as we prepare for our different needs and we see what we have in our hands, open our eyes to the prospects and the opportunities at hand.  Let us see what we can do with that which You have blessed us, in Jesus Holy Name, Amen.

‘… Make room for the new.’

Leviticus 26:9-10New King James Version (NKJV)
‘For I will look on you favourably and make you fruitful, multiply you and confirm My covenant with you.
10 You shall eat the old harvest, and clear out the old because of the new.

I once saw a picture with a little girl holding onto a really ragged old teddy bear and her Daddy held behind his back a beautiful brand new bigger teddy bear.  Asking her to give him the teddy bear she refused because it was her own little teddy bear.  After some sweet talking and pressurization she finally handed her Daddy the teddy bear.  You should have seen her face when he gave her the brand new bigger bear.  I will never forget that.

A lesson I have since learned is to receive new things in my life I need to get rid of the old, they clutter up my life style and make it impossible to buy new ones.  It works the same way with the LORD our God.  We need to give up some good stuff and to enable the LORD God to bless us with better stuff.

Prayer

O LORD our God if there is things in our lives that we need to give up and get rid of, please show us and help us to let go of the old and make room for the new.  Please Lord; give us the wisdom to receive YOUR Supernatural blessings in our own lives today, in the Name of Jesus.  Amen
