The View from the Sycamore Tree

"Ill-gotten treasures have no lasting value, but righteousness delivers from death. The Lord does not let the righteous go hungry, but he thwarts the craving of the wicked. Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth." Proverbs 10:2–10 Reflection The Turning Point: I used to think that by this stage of my life. The path was already set in stone. I looked at the mirror and saw the silver hair and the lines of age. I felt as though I was simply watching the clock run out on my dreams. I’ve spent years in the "midlife crisis." Wrestling with the ghosts of regrets, careers that didn't flourish, relationships that felt the strain of time. The nagging fear of being "less than" in a world that prises youth and worldly success. But then I saw Zacchaeus. He was a man who had spent his life traveling in the wrong direction. Chasing "ill-gotten treasures" that left his soul hungry. When he climbed that tree, he wasn't just trying to get a better view. He was reaching for a life he hadn't yet found. That is where repentance begins. It isn't just saying "I’m sorry." It’s the moment we realise we are in the wrong lane and decide to pull the steering wheel hard toward the Light. Like Zacchaeus coming down from that branch, we have to decide that we are finished with our old direction. The Road Map for the New Way Once we turn around. We need a map so we don't wander back into the thickets. Proverbs 10 serves as that divine GPS. It tells us that while our old "treasures" have no lasting value. The righteousness Jesus offers is a shield against death itself. The road map is clear: • Leave the Malice Behind: We cannot walk with Jesus while carrying stones to throw at others. • Silence the Gossip: Our words should build a bridge, not a wall. • Trade Laziness for Diligence: A life of faith isn't lived in a rocking chair. It’s lived with "diligent hands" that serve others and honour God. Apply Today Repentance is the U-turn, but integrity is the daily walk. Today, I challenge you to step out of the "rocking chair" of judgment. Stop tallying the mistakes of your neighbours and instead. Review the map of your own heart. Are you walking in honesty? Are you moving toward the Lord, or just sitting still? It is never too late to change lanes. The Lord is standing at the foot of your "tree," calling you by name to come down and start fresh. A Prayer Dear Father God, Holy Spirit, forgive me for the years I’ve spent sitting in judgment. Thinking I was "wonderful" while I was actually just stuck. I am sorry for my stubbornness and the hardness that has crept into my heart. I choose today to repent, to turn from my own way and walk in step with You. Thank You for being the God of the second chance, and the third, and the hundredth. Guide my feet onto the path of integrity. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen. Today’s Fragrance: Repentance is the sweetest scent a soul can carry; it is the aroma of a life turning back toward home.

2nd Wedding Anniversary!

Hey, hey it is my 2 nd anniversary!   This has been an interesting time in my life and I must be honest I am starting to see the changes in my own life.    Firstly remember I am a city girl with this bad ass attitude, my way or the highway.   Ah, now let me tell you that doesn’t work like this.   My husband has a firm hand over me and keeps me in toe.   I am still my own person and have many new interests.    How was my day today?   Well the normal, got out of bed at 04h30 and then left the house by 06h00 arriving at work at 07h00.   Then to top it off in an early morning meeting at 07h30 to 08h30, then back in the office.   I worked on three projects; getting information from people isn’t that easy.   I firstly completed my own scope of work, followed up with the suppliers and then going back to the next person.   As I work according to my time keeping schedule I then finally got to lunch time.   I...

~ Reach Out if You Wish to Succeed ~ Galatians 5:13 – “By love, serve one another.”

Gentle reader, Permit me to offer this quiet truth: success does not arrive on satin cushions, announced by trumpets or tapping politely at your parlour door. No — it is more elusive, more noble in its pursuit. It often hides itself behind connections yet to be made, and relationships yet to be pursued. To flourish in this life, one must be bound — not by title or fortune — but by divine connection. For those who are destined to elevate you may not arrive unbidden. More often, it is you who must summon the courage to seek them out. Let us consider the evidence: Why is the newspaper sold on every corner, and the soda machine placed on every floor? Because success is positioned where the people are. Even our beloved Lord, Jesus — did He sit upon a high throne in a palace, declaring, “Only here may you find Me?” Certainly not. He moved among the people — to the market stalls, along the dusty shores where fishermen cast their nets, into the synagogues and modest homes. “He went through...
