You are chosen.

by Yvette van Niekerk August 28 You are chosen. Ephesians 1: 4 (NLT) 4 "Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes." Every day is an adventure, and sometimes we feel that we aren't that important or that no one cares about us. I think today you need to be reminded that "even before God made the world." God was thinking about you. We are chosen by "God who loved us and chose us in Christ." O Lord what a privilege to know that You wanted us in Christ. We know that we are "holy and without fault in Your eyes." Lord as we face today, keep us under Your wings of protection and remind us that we are Your Chosen. As chosen children of God, we can meet each day with the challenges that come around. We don't have to worry, You Lord loved us. Lord as John 15 verse 9 says "He has loved me, [just] as the Father has loved Him; and He instructs me to abide in His love [to con...

Your past versus your future.

August 27 by Yvette van Niekerk Your past versus your future. Haggai 2: 9 (NLT) 9 "The future glory of this Temple will be greater than its past glory, says the Lord of Heaven's Armies. And in this place, I will bring peace. I, the Lord of Heaven's Armies, have spoken!" As I meditate and focus on this word today, I feel that the Lord of Heaven's Armies is reminding me that yes, my Dad did well, but that I am going to do even better. My future is in God's hands, and He is making the path straight for us. My "past glory" is my parents and grandparents. The future is in my children and my grandchildren. In faith, let us understand and trust in our God who can move mountains and who can make paths straight. Who can change people's hearts and minds? Who can create anything by just speaking a word? Stand in agreement with me today, your future, as well as my own, is blessed beyond measure. Prayer Lord of Heaven's Armies we stand before You ...

Favour and Increase!

by Yvette van Niekerk August 20 Favour and Increase! Jeremiah 29: 11 (NLT) 11 "For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord, "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." Are you waiting to come into the supernatural favour of our Lord? We know that God will work together the right time and right people and circumstances for your and my success. I too trust the Lord God to work in my favour, I want to build a legacy for my children, in the meantime, I am waiting on the Lord God. As I sit here, I believe the Lord God will work out something spectacular for me going forward, and God knows my heart's desire and my dreams. God is working in my favour, and I believe that I will receive an increase to such an extent that I will be able to help others. Take heart and be encouraged today, God is good, and he has a good plan in place for both you and me. Gods favour in the future. Abba Father we love You, not because Y...

No fear for the future.

by Yvette van Niekerk August 19 No fear for the future. Psalm 139: 16 (NLT) 16 "You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed." In my youth and my young adult life, I didn't fear my future; I was sure and felt nothing could shake me. I used to be bold and took the bull by the provable horns. It struck me that as I grew older, I became more concerned about my life, my future and what would become of me. Then I read these powerful words and realized that nothing I do would change my future. The Lord God saw me in my mom womb, and my entire life is in a book of life. So why did I feel insecure and worried about my future? The not knowing, feelings of insecurity caught up with me. Stopping my feelings of insecurity, I realized that God was in control over my life. He knew everything about me. I didn't have to fear the future. My life is in the Book of Life, and I am free to live...

He rescues you.

by Yvette van Niekerk August 18 He rescues you Isaiah 63: 9 (NLV) 9 "In all their suffering he also suffered, and he personally rescued them. In his love and mercy, he redeemed them. He lifted them up and carried them through all the years." You know that you can trust the Lord, He rescues you. The Lord knows and understands our difficult circumstances. Each day brings its difficulties, and sometimes we need someone to intervene for us and save us from it. Storms come and go, but at least we know we have an umbrella of protection over our heads. The Lord says that in all our suffering, he will personally rescue us. Take heart, my friend, God hears your call and knows what you are going through. Take your eyes off the difficult situations you are facing and focus and look to the Lord our God. His love and mercy redeem us. He lifts us and carries us through all the years. Look up and remind yourself of God’s love for you today, know that God rescued you in the past-He w...

"He was called God's friend."

by Yvette van Niekerk August 17 "He was called God's friend." James 2: 23 (NIV) 23 "And the scripture was fulfilled that says, "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness, and he was called God's friend." I don't have many friends; I have a couple whom I hold dear to my heart. We visit and chat and enjoy a cup of tea and eat cake. I was talking about things we don't want to discuss with our families because sometimes we need someone unbiased. I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and because I feel that I am God's child, I think that we are friends too. This makes the path straight for me to be able to speak to God about things in my own life and circumstances I cannot deal with. My friends always help me when times are tough, and I don't always have great solutions. As I sit here, I realize that God is there for me, He never leaves me, and He never forsakes me. Awesome Lord, what a privilege to be able to call ...

Blessings or curses?

by Yvette van Niekerk August 16 Blessings or curses? Deuteronomy 30:19 (AMP) 19 "I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse; therefore, you shall choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants." Our words have so much power I have heard it said: "You will have what you say." My daughter's favourite phrases. Here we see the Lord God speaking to Moses and in turn, Moses relays the message to the Israelites. God is faithful and always give each one of us the option to choose. Do you also go and weighs the pro's and con's or do you jump in and go with the flow? God is in the position to bless you and in abundance too. You need to watch your words, seek the blessings and live an abundant life. Our lives are blessed so that we may be a blessing to other people. Living a life of abundance means we need to think of the less fortunate. The Lord gives u...
by Yvette van Niekerk August 15 Strengthen my marriage. 1 Corinthians 13: 7(NLT) 7 "Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance." The devil knows how to bring temptation into anyone's life. We all need to pray Lord, strengthen my marriage; it is so easy to fall prey to having affairs these days. People work long hours with really some great people at the office. Both wives and husbands can fall into the trap of having an office affair. Let's not focus on how office affairs or any other affairs start let us take a different view of our marriages. Remind yourself that your spouse is tired and has worked a long day coming home they don't want to argue or fight. They want to sit down to a lovely meal and warm conversation. You may be feeling drained, but don't ever give up on your marriage. Treat each other with respect always, love each other unconditionally, never give up on your wedding. If you have ...

Then you will live a long, full life.

By Yvette van Niekerk August 14 Then you will live a long, full life. Exodus 20: 12 (NLV) 12 "Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you." Relationships are tricky, moms and dads, children, brothers and sisters, and not forgetting friends and family. People tend to disappoint one. Why? I think it is because we are human and cannot perceive other people's feelings and emotions at the time. Sometimes we are just too sensitive and hurt by the actions and words of the people in our lives it causes us to rebel and acts out against the people we love. The people closest are the ones who offend and hurt us most. How can we change? Let's start with our relationships with our parents, moms, and dads. Let's get that part of our lives right and trust God to help us going forward. Let's live lives in the land the Lord our God has given us. Prayer O Lord God as we honour our parents today, we d...

Do you have Idols in your lide?

by Yvette van Niekerk August 13 Do you have Idols in your life? Psalm 115: 8 (NLT) 8 "And those who make idols are just like them, as are all who trust in them." O, my God, I am guilty of idolizing people; I am guilty of idolizing my children and my family. What can they do for me? Help me in times of need, but are they able to get me to heaven? No. We are all guilty of idolizing someone or something in our lives. The harsh reality is that God hates idols; God reminds us to trust in the Lord! The Lord is our helper and our shield. Take the time to think about the things and people you idolize repent of your sin and pray, asking the Lord God to forgive you. Turn back to God, remember God is the one who blesses you, God is your shield of protection, God is your helper, and God looks after you and your children and their children. We must trust and believe in the Lord our God; He is blessing each of us every day. Call on Him. Prayer Heavenly Father let us not fall into ...

My Promises in the Bible

By Yvette van Niekerk My Promises in the Bible “You shall not go out with haste.” Isaiah 52: 12 NKJV If you know me, you will know that I am someone that reacts immediately. I’m under pressure and will do the job now. Without even considering the outcome, fortunately, God is watching over me and I have come to a point in my life where I realise I need to take a breath. I need to stop my action right away and pray about what I’m about to do. If I take a moment to reflect and think about what God has in store for me, I can hear Him saying “Yvette, you shall not go out with haste … for the Lord will go before you, and … be your rear guard.” This has been a revelation to me lately. I am very impulsive and it has cost me dearly. I am standing on God’s promises for me today, He said: “Yvette, you shall not go out with haste.” I seem to make many wrong turns lately but God has been so merciful towards me that He reminds me: “Yvette, you can make your plans, but the Lord determines your st...

Our Safety

by Yvette van Niekerk August 12 Our Safety. Isaiah 41: 10 (NLT) 10 "Do not be afraid, for I am with you, don't be discouraged, for I am Your God." As I sit here, I want to remind you of our awesome and wonderful God, perhaps you are feeling insecure and feel that your safety is at risk? Don't fear, and God said I am with you. I believe that God makes things happen in our lives to prevent us from going into a certain situation. Think about this, you are getting ready for work, and your child played with your car keys. It's getting late you and the kids are all running around the house looking for the keys, the spare key has been misplaced as well. After 15 minutes, you find the keys under the couch in the lounge. You take the children to school and off you go to the office. On your way to the office, you drive past a huge accident. You missed that accident by 25 minutes. Amazed you drive by and are on your way to the office. You think about the word for toda...

Unual Miracles

by Yvette van Niekerk August 11 Unusual Miracles. Acts 19: 12 (NLT) 12 "When handkerchiefs or aprons that had merely touched his [Paul'sPaul's] skin was placed on sick people, they were healed of their diseases, and evil spirits were expelled." The Apostel Paul received God's power to perform the unusual miracle. Walking down the street passing some sick people and your handkerchief fall on the person. They are healed by this miraculous action. As Christians, we should pray and fast constantly so that the Holy Spirit can operate in our lives, humble ourselves and become vessels God can use. The healing and setting free of demons is something we can do when we are filled with God's Holy Spirit. The age we are living is so dynamic, and it's time we live out our God-given potential. What is missing? We need a refreshed new touching of God'sGod's Holy Spirit in our lives. Calling on You Holy Spirit, return to us please in Jesus Holy Name. Pr...

I am confessing that I am not tactful anymore.

by Yvette van Niekerk I am confessing that I am not tactful anymore. Colossians 4: 6 "Let your conversation be gracious and attractive." My policy is and will be "honesty is the best policy". I keep to this as one of my many creeds. Unfortunately, I have become mean-spirited, I am frustrated, irritated, disappointed and very angry at certain people. They seem to go out of their way to bait me, and I keep falling into their traps. This verse shook me today. I feel very convicted by the Word of God today, and I believe God is drawing my attention to this problem. There must be a remedy for someone like me. I lost the ability to speak kindly and listen to them as I am already on my guard. I believe I will have to focus on learning and developing a new conversational skill. I need to remove my emotions number one from the conversation so that I can listen. Then I need to focus on my sensitivity toward them and see if I can control my attitude. I keep on hearing...

Don’t Talk About It!

by Yvette van Niekerk August 10 Don’t Talk About It! Romans 1: 29 (NLT) 29 “Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarrelling, deception, malicious behaviour, and gossip.” My mom and granny always reminded us never to say bad things about other people. My mom would always say, “If you don’t have anything good to say, keep quiet!” There are so many opinionated people living among us that they feel it is their right to air their views about all kinds of sins, friends and family are up to. These days’ people resort to so many different devices to spread gossip, talk about other people’s sins and failures. The sad part is no one keeps quiet anymore, and it’s the norm to spread other people’s sins. You may have made some mistakes and others have gone and told the whole world, so to speak. Shamefully it haunts you but pretending it’s okay, you laugh and carry on as usual. Let’s all stop talking about other people’s mistakes, and repent ...

God loves a cheerful giver!

by Yvette van Niekerk God loves a cheerful giver! 2 Corinthians 9: 6 - 8 "Remember this: The person who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the person who sows generously will also reap generously. Each person should do as he has decided in his heart - not reluctantly or out of necessity, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make every grace overflow to you, so that in every way, always having everything you need, you may excel in every good work." I know when it comes to money many people think no way, I work hard for my money and I'm not giving it away. To support the church financially sounds darn right hard. I used to think I don't have money to give and I used to hold onto my cash. It was hard times and I just couldn't think of giving. But as I grow older I realised something. God gives me enough every day to get through to tomorrow. Why can't I give back to Him? I made a conscious decision in giving my tithe every time I receiv...

Gods Mercy

by Yvette van Niekerk August 9 “God’s Mercy!” 1 Timothy 1: 15 – 16 (NLT) 15-16 “This is a trustworthy saying and everyone should accept it: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” – and I am the worst of them all. But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners.” I became a Christian in my late twenties. Those days I believe I was a Christian, I attended church services, and I even read my Bible, and I prayed every day. I was according to myself a good person with high morals and values. Now many years down the line, age and life happen to each one of us, and I have come to realize that it is by God’s mercy that I am still a Christian. God’s patience with each one of us on our own life journey is extraordinary. I don’t know how many times I have fallen just to get up and start all over again; God’s hand still holding mine. Wherever you are in your journey with the Lord, I pray that He will ...

There is a time to be quiet.

by Yvette van Niekerk August 7 There is a time to be quiet. Ecclesiastes 3: 7 (NLT) 7 "A time to tear and a time to mend. A time to be quiet and a time to speak. So, here's the thing, some people love the sound of their voices, and the more excited they get, the louder they speak." Sometimes they forget that they are in conversation with you and will carry on, almost forgetting to take a breath. We are reminded that there are seasons in our lives for everything. We also learn that there is "a time to be quiet and a time to speak." The best is we forget about the "time to be quiet" and jump right in and talk our heads off. Something we could learn from the Lord Jesus, standing before Pilate who was questioning the Lord, He kept quiet. Listing to all the accusations and not trying to defend His position. Do we have the same strength and tenacity to watch our mouths, keep quiet, and listen? Let's hope you don't suffer from something my chil...

What are the causes for a Christain to backslide?

by Yvette van Niekerk Romans 11: 33 "Oh, how great are God's riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to undertand his deceisions and his ways!" I believe that when a Christian starts to backslide it's because of a lack of passion for the Word of God. This person tends to neglect to spend time with God and, practices of faith such as prayer and worshipping God. We start overlooking the simplest aspect of our faith with results in us becoming shallow souls. Ephesians 3: 8 "Though I am the least deserving of all God's people, he graciously gave me the privilege of telling the Gentiles about the endless treasures available to them in Christ." Becoming self-centred and not thinking and meditating on the Word of God, is when our souls start to shrink. Compromising, trying to fit into the standards of the world, this is one of the most difficult positions I have found myself in, my soul felt so conflicted. Another aspect of backsliding...

Are you free to Worship God?

by Yvette van Niekerk August 6 https://facebook.com/events/s/14-ways-to-improve-you-cx/220245839994547/ Are you free to Worship God? Revelations 5: 12 (NLT) 12 "And they sang in a mighty chorus: "Worthy is the Lamb who was slaughtered – to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honour and glory and blessing." I can only imagine how awesome it will be when each person all over the world is standing before the Lamb's throne worshipping and praising His name. Every person will be singing mightily and with such passion. I listen to all kinds of music, and I love singing along, my children also listen to various kinds of music and many times I will shout "please put that noise softer." I don't particularly like that song or music and request the music is turned down. Are you free to worship the Lord? There where you are, are you able to just start worshipping the Lord? Think about it, and it would be so pleasing and wonderful to the Lor...

"All your heart and soul."

by Yvette van Niekerk August 5 https://facebook.com/events/s/14-ways-to-improve-you-cx/220245839994547/ "All your heart and soul." 1 Chronicle 22: 19 (NLT) 19 "Now seek the Lord your God with all your heart and soul. Build the sanctuary of the Lord God so that you can bring the Ark of the Lord's Covenant and the holy vessels of God into the Temple built to honour the Lord's name." I believe part of our Christian journey is to seek the Lord our God with all our hearts and soul. For us to grow spiritually, it is so important, and when we earnestly seek the Lord, we grow spiritually. Don't get discouraged when you don't find answerers immediately. It must be your heart's desire to find the right answers and the desire to draw near to the Lord God. In our seeking of the Lord, we draw closer to Him, and it helps us build our relationship with Him. By giving the Lord our God priority in our lives and putting Him first is a closer walk with Him...

"If you remain in me."

by Yvette van Niekerk https://facebook.com/events/s/14-ways-to-improve-you-cx/220245839994547/ August 4 "If you remain in me." John 15: 7 (NLT) 7 "But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!" The secret to a successful life is remaining in the Lord. The Holy Spirit already resides within us. We are children of the Living God, and His light shines through us. When the Lord said, "if we remain in Him and His words remain in us, we may ask for anything we want, and it will be granted!" In praying this Word and promise for our lives, we can trust in the Living God. His Word never returns to Him void. We are physical beings with a spiritual being living within us. We all have desires and wants that we feel we need. We need to know the Word, and on this basis, we can pray for what we need. There was a time in my life that I wanted material things, I would pray about them, and I would rece...

Open up!

August 2 https://facebook.com/events/s/14-ways-to-improve-you-cx/220245839994547/ Unfailing Love! Psalm 57:10 (AMP)  10 "For Your faithfulness and lovingkindness are great, reaching to the heavens, And Your truth to the clouds." People write songs about love, they write stories about love, and they make movies about love. Why is love so important? We are created to love, God created people in His image, and God is love. As I study the word of God, it is clear to me that we are not able to get on with our lives if we don't have love. God reminds us through the Psalms of David that His unfailing love is as high as the heavens. Standing on earth looking up to heaven, I must say it's a long way to go, it feels like it's impossible to reach the sky. God reminds us that His faithfulness reaches the clouds. We want people in our lives that love us, and we want faithful people, we have been put together in such a way that it makes good sense to want such things....

See it! Believe it!

by Yvette van Niekerk August 1  See it! Believe it!  Hebrews 11: 1 (NLT)  1 "Faith is the confidence that we hope for will happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see."  I always stand amazed when I see something I visualized and wanted right in front of my eyes. When I confidently believed that the Lord would supply according to my personal needs. As a young Christian, I used to visualize the things I wanted. I would go to the shop, touch the items and imagine myself wearing it. Faith in action today, is there something you want? I believe that in seeing it and thinking you can have it, it will be yours.  Write down what it is you want. See it! Believe it and then accept it. God knows your heart and can see what you need, can you see your needs met? Believing God will open new doors for you.   Prayer  O Lord Almighty, God in the name of Your Son Jesus Christ, please opens my eyes, ears, and hearts. Give us the faith we need to ...
