The Lord answered …

1 Samuel 30:8Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)

And David inquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them? The Lord answered him, Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.

Picture this while you are down on your knees and in humble prayer and everything seems to tumble around you.  Tears running down your cheeks and you have no other resources available to you.  You are sitting on the floor with your Bible in hand.  You are reminded of something you’re read in 1 Samuel.  You are paging through the Book of 1 Samuel and your eye catches verse 8.  A sudden realisation comes over you, God just answered you.

The feeling of dread and fear departs from you, as you focus and mediate on the words ‘pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.’  God is so good and faithful to the extent of answered prayer.  We hear His voice through the Word of God, or a friend will be talking and they will lift you up.  Sometimes God speaks to us through our dreams but the most important thing to note is ‘The Lord answered’.

Heavenly Father, please Lord God, we always need Your direction in our lives, we need to have answered prayers.  Lord thank You that You work in mysterious ways and always answer us.  In Jesus name, Amen

Acts 2:38-40 (ICB) 38 Peter said to them, “Change your hearts and lives and be baptized, each one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 This promise is for you. It is also for your children and for all who are far away. It is for everyone the Lord our God calls to himself.” 40 Peter warned them with many other words. He begged them, “Save yourselves from the evil of today’s people!”
I say we are too caught up in our own little worlds, we believe that we are capable of so much and that when times are difficult then we call on the Lord Jesus.  When nothing happens and we do not receive answered prayers we lose hope and start looking for new ways to get out of the mess we find ourselves in.
In the International Children’s Bible we read that “change your hearts and lives and be baptized,”  the words that stood out for me is “change your hearts and lives.”  I have been thinking about these words.  Something m…
