Taking every thought captive to Christ

2 Corinthians 10:5 New King James Version (NKJV) 5  casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ Each day scripture reveals a new truth to me and today I want to focus on something very significant and important.   We as Christian are all striving to become Holy as God’s Word calls for it.   Part of becoming Holy we need to work on our own thought live.   W e are reminded that, we should cast argument and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God .   Taking every through into captivity so that we are able to be obedient to Christ. How do we action taking our thought life into captivity to obey Christ?   I think it will be one thought at a time.   You know what your negative thoughts are and by eliminating one though at a time and replacing it with a positive thought will transform your thinking. ...

Look at what is in your hand.

1 Samuel 17:50New King James Version (NKJV) 50  So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone, and struck the Philistine and killed him. But there was no sword in the hand of David.  When reading this passage I am reminded that King Saul tried to fit David with his armor which obviously didn’t fit David.   He finally said let me go the way that I am.   He didn’t look at the giant with his big sword and shield.   David had his sling in his hand and stopped to pick up 5 pebbles.   His focus wasn’t on the fact that he wasn’t dressed for the occasion no, he was going to face his enemy. Sometimes we should stop focusing on what we don’t have and start focusing on what we have at hand.   We need to realize that when we need something to happen in our lives and it is meant to happen, you can be sure it will take place. Look at what you have in your hands, use this for now and see how the rest will fall into place. ...

‘… Make room for the new.’

Leviticus 26:9-10New King James Version (NKJV) 9  ‘For I will look on you favourably and make you fruitful, multiply you and confirm My covenant with you. 10  You shall eat the old harvest, and clear out the old because of the new. I once saw a picture with a little girl holding onto a really ragged old teddy bear and her Daddy held behind his back a beautiful brand new bigger teddy bear.   Asking her to give him the teddy bear she refused because it was her own little teddy bear.   After some sweet talking and pressurization she finally handed her Daddy the teddy bear.   You should have seen her face when he gave her the brand new bigger bear.   I will never forget that. A lesson I have since learned is to receive new things in my life I need to get rid of the old, they clutter up my life style and make it impossible to buy new ones.   It works the same way with the LORD our God.   We need to give up some good stuff and to...

Put our confidence in the Lord

2 Thessalonians 3: 3 KJV 3 But the Lord is faithful, who shall establish you, and keep you from evil. My journey has been interesting and I probably could tell you many stories.   One thing I can honestly tell you today is to put your confidence in the Lord Jesus.   People are so fickle and as you know they can and normally do disappoint you. From my point of view I would say the best bet in life is to stay focused on the Lord Jesus and not to forget that He is there to help you and keep you from evil. I remember we just moved to Johannesburg form the Free State, Virginia.   On our way home from work there was a huge accident.   The two guys that were racing on the high way, both of them were decapitated.   It was a gruesome sight and I felt my heart almost stopping.   This reminded me that I must always pray from my own children, I must keep my family and friends in my prayers.   It shocked me so that I had nightmare...

Just hang in there!

Genesis 12:1New King James Version (NKJV) Promises to Abram 12 Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you. Are your facing a difficult or challenging time in your life?   I want to encourage you to just hang in there!   Many times life will through you a curve ball and you may be asked to leave your family and home, and your country.   Look at the promise Abram received from God.   God asked Abram to leave everything behind and move, keeping in mind that Abram was 75 years old. I want to encourage you today, remember you don’t have to worry about what your future holds you are exactly where God wants you.   You are in God’s hand and He knows your future.   God promises to bless you; stay in faith and hang in there.   There is nothing too grate for God to conquer.   The creator of heaven and earth cares deeply about you. ...
